King Cloud® II and III Recliners are designed with comfort, safety, and innovation at their core. Integrated Infrared (IR) safety sensors help protect your furniture and surroundings by detecting obstructions during operation. If your footrest isn’t opening or closing as expected, the steps below will help you restore functionality safely and easily.
Footrest Not Moving? Here’s What to Do
The IR sensors are designed to pause footrest movement when something is in the way. Here's how to identify and resolve the issue.
1. Check for Obstructions
Start by inspecting the area underneath and around the recliner.
-
Look for items like shoes, toys, or rug edges that may be in the path of the footrest.
-
Clear away any obstructions before continuing.
Even a small item can trigger the IR sensor and prevent the recliner from operating.
2. Reset the Controls
A simple reset can help restore full functionality.
Step 1: Power Off the Recliner
Turn off the recliner at the wall or unplug it from the power outlet. Wait 15 minutes.
Step 2: Discharge Residual Power
Run your hand across the control buttons to ensure any remaining energy is discharged.
Step 3: Restore Power
Reconnect the recliner to the power source and turn it back on.
3. Avoid Pressure on the Footrest
When resetting or operating the recliner:
-
Sit back in the recliner without placing weight on the footrest.
-
Pressure on the footrest during activation can interfere with its movement.
4. Perform a System Reset
You can initiate a reset directly from the recliner's controls:
-
Press and hold Buttons 1 and 4 together for 20 seconds
-
Then, press and hold Button 3 for 15 seconds
This sequence resets the internal motor system and should allow the footrest to return to normal operation.
5. Check for Success
If the footrest retracts or moves after the reset, functionality has been restored.
If the footrest still does not respond, further support may be required.
