Marble is a natural product. Whilst all King stone products are sealed, marble that comes into contact with acidic substances including coffee, citrus, wine, tomatoes, alcohol and juice can cause etching. A stain on the other hand, occurs when a liquid penetrates the marble and causes discolouration within the stone.

DO's

  • Regularly clean the surface with a warm damp cloth, then wipe dry
  • Use coasters and boards to prevent food and drink coming into direct contact with the marble wherever possible
  • Wipe away spills immediately to avoid penetration of the surface, any substance that comes into contact with your marble should be absorbed immediately with a clean, damp cloth. if necessary, use a mix of water and mild soap to clean, then wipe dry

DON'T

  • Use abrasive cleaners. Best to use a mild detergent or soapless cleaner
  • Do not place hot items directly on the stone surface, we recommend the use of boards, trivets or mats
  • Do not use scouring products as they are abrasive and can scratch the surface of the stone and damage the finish of the marble
  • Avoid using a vacuum cleaner to clean dust and dirt off of marble, as the edge of the vacuum cleaner hose may scratch the sensitive marble surface
